Before you book…

Sun Park offers a unique Holiday-Living experience that is unlike anything you will have encountered elsewhere.
For this reason, we believe that it is important to understand the ethos of Sun Park before making a reservation.

Sun Park is a private, independent Holiday-Living resort for active over-50s situated at Playa Blanca, Lanzarote. Our mission is to:

  • inspire a fulfilling, active lifestyle
  • generate a self-perpetuating community spirit
  • promote an ethos of generosity, trust and friendship
  • enable a way of life that is conducive to abundant health and happiness for all, regardless of age.

Is Sun Park the right resort for you?

Whilst most people who visit Sun Park fall in love with the ethos and the community, and meet new friends for life, the experience is not for everybody. Just to clarify, it doesn’t matter whether you’re single or if you come with a friend or a partner. What does matter is what kind of person you are, and what you expect and want from your stay with us.

If you are friendly, honest, like meeting people, and enjoy being part of a community, we think you’ll fit right in and will almost certainly love your time at Sun Park. If this is the case, and before you commit to your visit, please read on…

What you can expect at Sun Park

A warm welcome:
Whether you arrive alone or with a friend or partner, you’re guaranteed to find a warm welcome. As soon as you step through the doors, you’re part of a special community noted for friendship, trust and generosity of spirit.

A ready-made group of friends:
If you enjoy meeting new people and making new friends, you won’t be disappointed. Unlike many hotel resorts, you’ll find it very easy meeting people and making friends at Sun Park. If you’re alone and wish to meet like-minded people there’s no better place to be. That’s because our resort has been built on an ethos that places great importance on friendship and community.

You’ll never be bored:
At Sun Park, there’s so much going on every day that we can safely say that you’ll never be bored. To borrow from Samuel Johnson’s famous quote, “To be tired of Sun Park, is to be tired of life!”. Community members are key in the planning and organising of most of the activities on-site and everyone is welcome to join in any activity or event. And if you fancy organising or planning new ones, that’s great too.

Just take a look at the Community Noticeboard and you’ll find a long list of activities and events: Quiz nights, movie nights, dancing, music, art, creative writing, gardening, yoga, tai chi, meditation, bridge and organised walks are just a few of the regular activities.

All community-led activities are completely free of charge and not compulsory. If you prefer to be independent and not to join in that’s ok too. And, if you’d like to suggest something new, perhaps organise a new class/activity, or enquire whether other people would be interested in a daytime excursion or an evening out at a local restaurant or one of the many shows going on in Playa Blanca, all you need to do is post it on the Noticeboard.

You will also find a range of classes and activities run by local professionals which you can join in for a small fee, such as yoga, pilates, zumba, salsa, dancing, individual lessons on tennis and golf course, scuba diving, guided tours, nutrition, reflexology, fisiotherapy, and many more. Take a look at the notice board to keep yourself updated.

A perfect place to relax:
Whilst there are activities going on every day at Sun Park, as the resort has been designed for mature adults, it is also the perfect place to find peace and tranquility. Unlike many other resorts, if you need to just chill-out and relax, you won’t be disturbed by blaring music or other noise whether sitting on your terrace, by the pool or in the gardens.

To be safe & secure:
Sun Park is a private, gated community where everybody looks out for one another. This means that even if you’re travelling alone, you’ll feel safe and secure during your stay.

An outstanding location:
Everyone who visits agrees that Sun Park is situated in an ideal location. Playa Blanca is acknowledged to be one of – if not the – most beautiful areas on Lanzarote. You’re literally just a few minutes’ walk from the beach, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants on the beachfront and many more in the town and at the marina, both of which are a short walk away.

What you won’t find at Sun Park

If you’re looking for luxurious, five-star accommodation, Sun Park may not be for you. Sun Park is not, and does not claim to be, nor aspire to become, a five-star hotel. That said, all apartments are very spacious and clean, and include all of your basic needs. Each apartment comprises a double bedroom with two single beds, a bath/shower room, a lounge with American style kitchenette, and either a balcony (ground floor) or terrace (first floor).

Hotel services:
Sun Park is not a serviced hotel in the traditional sense. It functions more like a Serviced Apartment Complex, from the moment you arrive and get your key to your apartment, this becomes your home, until you check out. You use it as you would use your home and when you are due to leave, you simply return the keys whilst ensuring you leave everything in the same condition as you found it on arrival.

The reception is not manned, so you hold on to your key till the end of your stay and ensure you keep it safe. Information about Playa Blanca and Sun Park is easily accessible, there is plenty of information in the Community boards, and there is an Information Centre in town, only 8 minutes walking distance from Sun Park.

There are no housekeepers coming to service your apartment every morning, unless you have requested so, there are daily & weekly cleaning and laundry services available. These are charged separately and booked in advance.

Most of the daily activities at the resort are lead and organised by, and for, the community. There are always people around and they are all very helpful, so if you have questions or need a hand they are always there. They are not intrusive either, only there when you need them, but if you do, you will see the magic, how everyone is there to support each other and make sure everyone has a good time.

Most of the small issues and/or queries are resolved within the community. All you have to do is ask one of your neighbours. At Sun Park, you’ll find everyone is not only very friendly, they’re also very happy to help each other – and that means you!

Of course, we do include the essential services. If you experience a problem with any of the facilities in your apartment, we have maintenance staff on-site who will fix whatever needs fixing. To get help, simply report the problem via a computer in the reception, and one of the maintenance team will with you as soon as humanly possible. They available during office hours, Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, who can help you with any emergency issues. They are also available on call at night and during weekends and bank holidays. There is a call out charge however during out of office hours, so please check there is a real emergency before calling.

If, having read what you can and can’t expect from your time at Sun Park, you feel you’d like to come visit, we’d love to see you and welcome you to our community.
